After winning hearts with his excellent performance as the young Ashoka on the popular show "Chakravartin Ashok Samrat," Siddharth Nigam is all set to make his mark in Bollywood. The young actor has bagged the lead role in the upcoming film "Tez Raftaar."

According to an India Forums report, Siddharth, a national-level gold-medal-winning gymnast, will play a state-level athlete in the film. Interestingly, Siddharth's parents, too, will feature in the film.

"It's a different kind of a challenge to play this lead character in the film & I feel excited & proud to have been able to bag this opportunity to play the lead alongside one of the finest professionals in the film industry. I thank my Producers Kaushik & Kingshuk Goon and Director Sunanda Mitrato to have invested his faith in me & provided this fantastic opportunity & I will leave no stone unturned to justify their trust in me [sic]," the actor told the web-portal.

The report said "Tez Raftaar" will revolve around a slum boy (played by Siddharth) who lives in an urban city and is deprived of the basic amenities. However, his talent will be discovered by a renowned coach, who will train him to become an athlete. The film will showcase the struggles of the boy to achieve his dream.

"The film is a unique story which also marks the debut of the current television star Siddharth Nigam. The way he has shown his brilliance on television, I am sure he will win the hearts of his fans with this film. We have a talented bunch of cast and crew who will work to their perfection," Kaushik and Kingshuk Goon, the producers of the film, told India Forums. The film will also have Sameer Soni, Hrishita Bhatt, Mushtaq Khan and Aanjjan Srivastav, among others, in the cast.

Meanwhile, there were reports that with "Charavartin Ashoka Samrat" taking a leap, the makers of the historical drama may consider bringing Siddharth back as Askoka's son, if required. The young actor had created a benchmark with the role of Ashoka and has a huge fan following.
