Chinese smartphone maker Huawei has launched the international version of Honor 5X at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2015, Las Vegas.
"Honor 5X is a no nonsense smartphone that delivers all the essentials millennials want and need in a device," said George Zhao, president of Honor.
"We designed honor 5X to be an extension of the personalities of its users – cool, stylish and iconic – and it integrates creative technology so users get the most from their device and have a superior Internet experience, all at an affordable price," he added.
The new Honor 5X sports aluminum alloy-based metal body on the rear-side and on the front, it sports 5.5-inch full HD LCD screen.
The key attribute of the Honor 5X is that it boasts advanced biometric technology on the back (below the camera module). It is powered by second-generation fingerprint sensor with super-fast 0.5-second unlocking time. The sensor has the self-learning capability to improve scanning accuracy over time.
Under the hood, it houses Snapdragon 615 Octa-core, 2GB RAM, 16GB inbuilt memory, 13MP primary camera, 5MP snapper on the front and a 3000 mAh battery.
Honor 5X price and release details:
The company has confirmed that the Honor 5X will be available in three colour options -- gold, gray and white -- in the US at Amazon.com, Newegg.com and HiHonor.com/us for 199.99 (€184/Rs. 13,365).
With the announcement, Huawei has officially debuted the company's subsidiary brand Honor in the US. The Chinese firm, which is ranked as the world's third biggest smartphone maker, has set target to displace second placed Apple and, if possible, the leader -- Samsung -- in two years.
In 2015, despite slowdown in global smartphone sales, Huawei defied the market expectation by shipping 108 million handsets recording 44% jump compared to previous year, reported Reuters.
If things go well in the US for Huawei's Honor brand, there is high chance for the company to reach the goal of going at least a notch up in the global top phone makers' chart.

When will the Huawei Honor 5X come to India?
Huawei has begun sending out invites for an event on 28 January in India and many believe that the company will announce the price and availability details of Honor 5X in the country.
