The year 2014 saw a number of celebrities walking down the aisle, and in most of these nuptials were closely watched by the international media. At least one couple from the music, movie and reality television tied the knot this year, making 2014 a big year when it comes to celebrity weddings.

Here are a few weddings that garnered a lot of attention:

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West

The wedding weekend of the Kim Kardashian-Kanye West was one that many fans wouldn't forget, as it had all the elements – tears, fights and drama – that are usually featured in the family's reality show.

The celebration started off in Paris, but the actual event took place in Italy. Kardashian and West exchanged their wedding vows on 24 May inside the Belvedere Fort in Florence. Kardashian, who wore a Givenchy Haute Couture gown, was walked down the aisle by Bruce Jenner, and the entire event was telecast on "Keeping Up With The Kardashians."

Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo

Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine and Victoria's Secret model Behati Prinsloo tied the knot at Flora Farms in Los Cabos, Mexico on 19 July. Their wedding ceremony was attended by approximately 270 guests, which included Levine's bandmates James Valentine and Jesse Carmichael and model Coco Rocha, who was the bridesmaid.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, considered one of the most powerful couples in Hollywood, married on 28 August in a secret ceremony at Chateau Miraval in France. The wedding took their fans by surprise, and the ceremony was attended only by family and very close friends.

The couples' children – Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh and twins Vivienne and Knox – all had an active role in the wedding, and according to reports, Jolie was walked down the aisle by Maddox and Pax. While Zahara and Vivienne threw rose petals, Shiloh and Knox served as ring bearers.

Speaking about the ceremony, Jolie later told NBC's Tom Brokaw: "We got married with our children and they were part of the ceremony and they wrote some of the vows. It was all of us agreeing to be together and to just commit to this life together. Not because we had to, not because anything was missing in our lives... because we were absolutely sure we felt that much of a family. It was really lovely."

George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin

Less than six months after George Clooney, considered one of Hollywood's most eligible bachelors, and Amal Alamuddin got engaged in April, the duo got hitched in Venice Italy.
The British-Lebanese barrister wore an Oscar de la Renta gown for the ceremony on 27 September, and Clooney arrived by motorboat for the star-studded bash. On his decision to marry the human rights lawyer in Venice, Clooney said it was in Italy that the couple first met.

Sir Elton John and David Furnish

Nine years after Sir Elton John and David Furnish entered into a civil partnership, the couple officially married on 21 December. The couple's sons acted as ring-bearers, and gave fans a peek into their special day by uploading photographs from the ceremony. Guests included David and Victoria Beckham and musician Ed Sheeran.
