"Castle" season 8 has gone on a long hiatus after airing its mid-season finale on 23 November. Fans of the ABC series watched episode 8, titled "Mr Mrs Castle", almost a month ago, and can expect to catch episode 9, titled "Rone Death", only next year, on 1 February, 2016. And now, co-showrunner Alexi Hawley has dropped some major spoilers about Rick's mysterious disappearance and memory loss and how Kate could be involved in it.

In the previous episode we saw Rick-Kate reunion after they work together to solve a murder case on a cruise ship. The mid-season finale also showed how after a failed attempt at catching someone who is part of the Drug Cartel, Beckett realises that she can't do it alone and admits it to Castle.

And now, the reports state that Kate-Rick will keep their reunion under wraps in public eyes. This reconciliation will lend an interesting twist to the plot, but will also reopen pages of Rick's disappearance and memory loss from season 7.

"We're going to go to Castle's missing time next when the season resumes," Hawley told TVLine.

Though the show had explained this plot back in season 7 itself, but maybe that was not satisfying enough for the fans. Hence, the co-showrunner has teased that they will show that Rick's disappearance had to do with more than just the Bilal situation and this may lead to Kate's involvement and the LokSat case she has long been toiling on.

"We haven't nailed the story down for it, but we do like the idea that something that Castle came across during his missing time is actually why his memory was wiped, and it wasn't necessarily about the reason we showed in Season 7. And it does have something to do with Beckett. But we haven't nailed it all the way down yet," Hawley teased.

Meanwhile, it has also been reported that Rick will team up with his daughter Alexis on a Los Angeles case and also be joined by Castle's partner Hayley as they tackle a mystery that leads them back to the heart of a murder probe for the NYPD. Some reports have also suggested that Castle will seek assistance from Kate on the same.

"Castle" Season 8 is on a mid-season break and will return on 1 February, 2016. For more information on the upcoming episode and live streaming details, don't forget to check back here.
