Publisher Activision has announced the release of Season Pass for its FPS video game, Call of Duty: Ghosts, detailing the list of downloadable contents (DLC) it will include in the pass.

The Season Pass will consist of four DLC's as a part of the package, namely Onslaught, Devastation, Invasion, and Nemesis. These will introduce new maps, new weapons and a new four-part episodic experience called Extinction.

Players purchasing Season Pass will immediately be able to access bonus in-game content - the team leader digital pack which includes MP player head, bonus weapon camo and reticle, a player card, patch and background.

Additionally, purchasers will also be able to get instant access to free multiplayer map titled Freefall. Activision also informs that in the case of any player upgrading their console to next-gen, the Season Pass will follow them there too, without costing them anything. The Season Pass will cost $49.99.

Though Call of Duty is popular and has an extensive fan base, the series is declining as Analysts have projected that they are selling less every passing year. They have said there is a drop of 20 percent in its sales. The recently released Ghosts has sold lesser than the 2012's Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 game. Even when compared with 2011's Modern Warfare 3, the sales are lower by 32 percent.

"Upon further reflection, we think the [Call of Duty] numbers are a bit more troubling than they first appeared," said Doug Cruetz of Cowen & Company in a note to investors, VentureBeat reported.

"While the year-over-year gap is only 19 percent thus far, that includes two extra weeks of sales for the 360 and PS3 versions [of Black Ops II]. Against 2011′s [Modern Warfare 3], where the difference is only one week, the title is down 32 percent life-to-date," Creutz wrote.

The gloomy outlook presented is certainly a matter of concern for the developers and game publishers. Developers have to constantly bring in innovative ideas to stay ahead of competition in the game industry.
