In another stellar run to the finals, another massive buildup and then another loss, PV Sindhu should be one frustrated soul. When the Indian shuttler went down to Carolina Marin (19-21, 10-21) in the finals of the BWF World Championship, the frustration was vivid and for all to see.

"It is very frustrating to lose again. Last time also I had played the finals. It is quite sad and I have to come back stronger and get back to the sessions and prepare for the next tournament," a visibly deflated Sindhu said after the match.

'Was expecting a good match'

The Indian went to Carolina Marin in straight sets where she had stumbled against Japan's Nozomi Okuhara at the very same stage last year. It has become a trend with the Hyderabad-girl as her final blues refuse to go away. Since 2016, it is her eighth reversal major finals, and this includes defeats at the Rio Olympics, Hong Kong Open (2017, 2018), Super Series Final (2017), India Open (2018) and Thailand Open (2018).

"A bit sad because I was expecting a good one but overall it was a good match and I am happy I came to the finals and winning and losing are parts of life and I have to take it as it is," she reflected.

Speaking about her opponent Carolina Marin, Sindhu said that the Spaniard has speed and aggression and her intensity never dips when on court.

"Carolina has that speed and she is very aggressive. She was very fast and quick paced during the tournament. I was prepared for her pace game. I made too many errors, my smashes were going out. I can just say it was not my day," Sindhu spoke about her own performance in the match.

While Marin scripted history by becoming the first woman shuttler to win the world championships thrice -- 2018, 2015 and 2014, Sindhu became the only Indian to have four world championship silver medals. Earlier she had won bronze medals at the 2013 Guangzhou and 2014 Copenhagen editions.
