In a bid to scare Canadians, ISIS has released a new video that shows Ottawa man John Maguire urging fellow Muslim countrymen to attack Canada.

In the six-minute video that emerged on Sunday and has since been circulated many times on social media sites, the Canadian-born jihadi warns that all Canadians would be "indiscriminately targeted, the way the Western world has targeted Muslims across the world indiscriminately."

Maguire urges his Muslim brethren in Canada to either join the ISIS or follow the footsteps of the attackers who struck Ottawa and Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu in October.

Although Maguire introduced himself in the video as Abu Anwar al-Canadi, National Post identified his former identity with the help of five former friends who revealed that he is a University of Ottawa drop-out and got radicalized Muslim before vanishing last year.

Maguire also reveals in the video that he was once a typical Canadian, growing up in the hockey rink, playing guitar, maintaining a strong GPA in university and an overall "good student." He also claims to have a clean record lacking of any criminal offences.

The video begins with a statement "Message from Mujahid" in which he poses Canadians a question: Why Canadians, in spite of being "educated people," are unable to understand that the operations conducted by "brother Ahmed Rouleau (Martin Couture-Rouleau, the driver in the fatal hit-and-run attack in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu) and the storming of Parliament Hill in Ottawa were carried out in direct response to your participation in the coalition of nations waging war against the Muslim people?"

Maguire further says that Canada is going out of its way to participate in the global war against the Islamic state and that it is in retaliation to Canada's unprovoked attacks against their ISIS) people, that the Islamic State is planning operations that will hurt Canadians the most in their "very own soil."

"You have no right to live in a state of safety and security, when your country is carrying out atrocities against our people," claims Maguire. He also says that with each bomb the West drops on the Islamic state, more and more Muslims will realise that their cause is beyond doubt a "religious obligation binding upon every Muslim." In his view, each time Muslims are wrongly arrested or banned from traveling to the Islamic State, they will be inspired to join the war against Western countries and their allies.

After promising a mortal life of punishment in the hands of the Mujahideen, Maguire says an eternal life of hell-fire is awaiting those who do not submit to Islam and "the one true God."

Maguire claims that he and his ilk have joined Jihad to serve in the name of this "one true God" and establish His laws on earth. He advises viewers to read the Quran and search for the truth. The radical believer also says that he is among those who have answered to the true call of the prophets and the messengers of God: "A call to worship no deity except the one true God who created us to worship Him, who has no partners and no son, and to whom we will all return on the day of judgement."

Maguire finally asks Canadian Muslims to choose their destiny; either be a Hijra or a Jihad. "You either pack your bags, or prepare your explosive devices. You either purchase your airline ticket, or you sharpen your knife."

The video produced by a propaganda group linked to the ISIS has ignited fears among Canadian leaders. Canada's public safety minister Steven Blaney has asked the country to remain vigilant according to Reuters.
