Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL), the state owned Telecommunication Company, and the Mumbai based WishTel manufacturing company are set to jointly unwrap the IRA Icon Tablet PC on October 1.

The device featuring 3G and WIFi is mainly aimed at the business people and multitasking homemakers.

"The tablet PC has been designed to suit the needs of avid tech - savy youngsters, business environments, multi-tasking homemakers and the student fratenity alike. The BSNL Value added services like Video streaming, Mobile TV and various other applications under BSNL LIVE shall be extended to our valued customers in an increased screen at a very affordable price," The Economic Times quoted BSNL CMD, R K Upadhyay, as saying in a Wishtel Statement.

The Tablet will come with 800X480 pixel 7 inch TFT LCD capacitive multi-touch screen with built in BSNL 3G Sim card. It will also feature 0.3 MegaPixel front web camera and 2.0MP rear-facing camera. The tablet PC will run on Android 4.0 OS and packs a 4000 mAh battery with 4-5 hours back up.

IRA Icon Tablet PC will come with 3G, WIFI and Bluetooth connectivity and will be powered by 1.2 GHz processor. It will pack 1GB RAM along with built-in stereo speakers and a microphone. The tablet will have 4GB internal memory onboard. IRA Icon will come with preloaded apps like Wish Learning, Wish Studio, Wish TV, Wish News and Wish video calling.

The tablet is likely to be priced in the 10,000 bracket and will be available in retail stores from next week.
