Amritsar, Nov 03 (ANI): India's paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF) troopers gunned down smugglers and recovered 22 kilograms of heroin worth 1.1 billion rupees along the Indo-Pak border in Punjab. Giving details of the incident, BSF Inspector General Ashok Kumar said that one smuggler was shot dead while two of his accomplices were injured and 22 kg of heroin was seized from them at Dera Baba Nanak sector in Gurdaspur district. He added that the operation was launched on the basis of intelligence inputs, following which the patrolling party of 38 Battalion in Gurdaspur observed some suspicious movement in the area of Bohar Wadala border outpost. The patrolling party opened fire in retaliation as the smugglers, who were trying to cross over to the Pakistan side, challenged them. Three smugglers Tasveer Singh, Balwinder Singh and Fateh Singh , all residents of Kalanaur town in Haryana, received injuries.
