Jammu, Sep 10 (ANI): The Army in Jammu built a temporary bridge linking flood- ravaged villages to the city, providing relief to the people after the region's worst floods for 50 years destroyed a number of key crossings and wreaked havoc in the area. Due to heavy floods the bridge on river Tawi was completely damaged. Nearly 45000 people living in about 45 villages in the surrounding area were cut off from the city. The Army and Air Force dropped relief material in the area, while Army boats helped people to commute to the other side of the river. Brigadier P K Mishra said that the Army has constructed a temporary bridge on the river Tawi and named it 'Rahat Setu' meaning bridge of relief.
