Kaaviya Thalaivan

Siddharth-Prithviraj-Vedhika's "Kaaviya Thalaivan" has taken good openings at the Chennai box office. The film is estimated to have grossed ₹87.54 lakh in its opening weekend. It witnessed average theatre occupancy of 75%, according to Behindwoods.

"Kaaviya Thalaivan" has got good reviews not just from critics and the audience, but also from celebrities of the Tamil film industry. Recently, actor Vijay lauded director Vasanthabalan for doing a film like "Kaaviya Thalaivan" and stated that the historic fiction drama is one of the most important films in Tamil cinema.

The actor also appreciated Siddharth, Prithviraj, Vedhika, music composer AR Rahman and other technicians for their efforts.

With the film receiving glowing reviews, it is expected to continue its good run at the box office for at least two weeks as there are no big films lined up for release until 12 December when Rajinikanth's "Lingaa" will hit screens.

Naaigal Jaakirathai

The Sibiraj starrer has managed to hold well in its second week, despite new releases at the box office. The film, which deals with bonding between a police officer and a military-trained dog, received decent reviews from the critics. It took average openings at the box office and has continued to maintain its business.

The comedy thriller film has minted ₹77.39 lakh in 10 days at the Chennai box office. Whether the film will be able to sustain its business in the coming days is something one needs to wait and watch.

Kaththi

Vijay's "Kaththi" is nearing the 50-day theatrical run at the box office. The film, which hit screens on 22 October, has emerged as the highest grossing Tamil film of the year so far. The film took grand openings upon its release and fared well not just in India, but also in overseas markets.

It surpassed the ₹100 crore mark in just 12 days and became the second Vijay starrer to achieve the feat after 2012-blockbuster flick "Thuppakki."

Even after completing 40 days, "Kaththi" has continued to get screened in a few theatres. The film is inching towards the 50-day mark, which will be attained next week. It has reportedly minted ₹7.78 crore at the end of fifth weekend in Chennai.
