The latest releases "Trisha Illana Nayanthara" and "Maya" have got fantastic start at the box office in Tamil Nadu.

On the opening day, "Trisha Illana Nayanthara" collected approximately  Rs 3.25 crore at the box office in the state, where the movie was released in above 200 screens. The Ganesh Chathurthi holiday played a major role in its success as the audience turnout was good for almost all the shows.

Talking about the good performance, leading trade tracker Sreedhar Pillai posted, "#TrishaIllanaNayanthara takes a very good Day 1 opening in TN - Rs 3.25 Cr(approx)& has become a craze among youth. Highest for @gvprakash." The movie was expected to do well as it got good response for advance booking in Chennai and other cities.

Nayantara's "Maya" had done lesser business than "Trisha Illana Nayanthara". It reportedly earned around Rs 2 crore on the release day at the box office in Tamil Nadu. Pillai wrote, "#Nayanthara has an opening! #Maya collected around Rs 2 Cr on day 1 in TN, terrific 4 a unusual horror flick which is getting rave reviews." It was released in 225 screens in the state.

"Trisha Illana Nayanthara" was as hyped as GV Prakash's movie. But the Nayantara starrer has got fantastic reviews from critics and from the audience. In case of "Trisha Illana Nayanthara", it has managed to get positive response from only youths.

Hence, "Maya" is expected to outperform "Trisha Illana Nayanthara" in the coming days.

"Trisha Illana Nayanthara" is an adult-comedy starring GV Prakash Kumar, Anandhi and Manisha Yadav. It is written and directed by Adhik Ravichandran.

"Maya" is a supernatural-horror thriller directed by Ashwin Saravanan. The brilliant narration and spine-chilling moments in the flick have impressed the audience.

The other release "49-0" starring Goundamani has got mixed reviews but could not perform well at the box office.
