Check out the box office collection report of Tamil films "Sigaram Thodu," "Vanavarayan Vallavarayan," "Irumbu Kuthirai", "Amara Kaaviyam" and "Salim."

Sigaram Thodu

Vikram Prabhu's "Sigaram Thodu" has taken a good opening at the Chennai box office. The film is estimated to have grossed over ₹77 lakh in its first weekend, according to Behindwoods.

The film received positive reviews from critics and audience alike. While the film's first weekend collections have been good, it remains to be seen how the Vikram Prabhu starrer performs in the weekdays.

The film is expected to dominate the Chennai box office for another few days until the release of new films. On 19 September, Hansika's thriller film "Aranmanai" is all set to hit screens. The film is likely to be released in more than 300 screens across Tamil Nadu.

It is expected to pose strong competition to "Sigaram Thodu." One needs to wait and see whether the Vikram Prabhu starrer will be able to sustain its business after "Aranmanai" releases.

Vanavarayan Vallavarayan

"Vanavarayan Vallavarayan" (VV) took an average opening weekend at the Chennai box office. The film witnessed average theatre occupancy of 55 percent and earned ₹31.46 lakh in Chennai.

The film's business has apparently been affected by average reviews and also by the release of "Sigaram Thodu," which is faring well at the box office.

Irumbu Kuthirai

Atharvaa starrer "Irumbu Kuthirai," which released on 29 August, has failed to set the cash registers ringing.

The film took a good opening at Chennai box office, but its business dropped due to negative reviews. "Irumbu Kuthirai" has earned more than ₹78 lakh in 17 days in Chennai.

Salim

"Salim" has managed to hold on to some shows despite several new releases. The film has performed decent business and has earned ₹1.52 crore at the Chennai box office, according to Behindwoods.

The film, which released along with "Irumbu Kuthirai" on 29 August, got good reviews from critics. Audience also seems to have given thumbs up to the film, which is evident from its collections.

Amara Kaaviyam

The film received decent reviews from the critics, but has failed to pull in crowds to theatres.

The Satya starrer has turned out to be a big disappointment at the box office. The romantic entertainer has minted over ₹60 lakh in 10 days at the Chennai box office.
