Santhanam's "Dhilluku Dhuddu" and Salman Khan's "Sultan" have got a flying start at the Chennai box office. Both the movies in its first weekend have done fantastic business in the capital city of Tamil Nadu.

"Dhilluku Dhuddu," which has minted over Rs. 10 crore in Tamil Nadu, is in the numero uno position in Chennai by earning Rs. 1.48 crore, which is better than the collections of many movies featuring popular names in 2016. The latest Tamil movie had 243 shows in its first weekend, reports Behindwoods.

It has opened to mixed reviews with some critics giving thumbs down for the first half. But the audience seem to have ignored the dreariness of the pre-interval portions as the second half is highly entertaining. However, the success of the Tamil flick at the box office depends on its performance in the coming days.

Coming to "Sultan," the Hindi film has collected Rs. 1.29 crore from 165 shows in Chennai. The good pre-release buzz has helped the movie in a big way to do such a great business, say trade experts.

The collection of previous-week release "Jackson Durai" has slowed down as the movie earned Rs. 19.76 lakh in its second weekend from 117 shows. The film had earned Rs. 77.34 lakh in its first weekend. The total collection of the flick stands at Rs. 1.42 crore at the Chennai box office.

Samuthirakani's "Appa," which had collected Rs. 18.05 lakh from 90 shows in its first weekend, has raked in Rs. 16.69 lakh from 108 shows. The total collection of the movie stands at Rs. 54.71 lakh by the end of its second weekend in Chennai.

Hollywood film "The Legend of Tarzan" has earned less than a lakh this weekend and it has made a collection of Rs. 82.57 lakh in Chennai. The movie raked in Rs. 66.71 lakh from 201 shows.
