Vijay Antony's Saithan has struck gold at the Chennai box office. The Tamil movie has overpowered other films like Maveeran Kittu and Kahani 2.

In the opening weekend, Saithan has minted Rs 1.47 crore from over 250 shows, reports Behindwoods. The trade experts consider this to be a very good number for a Vijay Antony film. The other new release Maveeran Kittu has also made an impressive collection as it raked in Rs 59.41 lakh from 240 shows.

Both the movies enjoyed good occupancy rates and have garnered fairly positive reviews. It has to be seen how it will perform at the box office in the days to come.

Bollywood film Kahani 2 has also got an above average opening in Chennai. It has collected Rs 25.51 lakh from 96 shows in Chennai.

Hollywood flick Moana has done well in the first weekend collecting Rs 17.44 lakh from 78 shows. Underworld: Blood Wars has also got a decent opening as it raked in Rs 15.98 lakh from 93 shows.

The business of Hindi movie Dear Zindagi has slowed down in Chennai. The movie, which had collected Rs 50.25 lakh from 135 shows in its first weekend, has raked in Rs 10.35 lakh from 54 shows in the second weekend to take its 10-day total tally to Rs 91.95 lakh.

Jiiva and Kajal Aggarwal's Kavalai Vendam has witnessed a huge dip in its second weekend as the movie earned a little over Rs 5 lakh. The 10-day total collection stands at Rs 1.85 crore.

Simbu's Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada had 39 shows, from which it has earned Rs 4.87 lakh in its fourth weekend. The total collection of the flick stands at Rs 5.75 crore.

GV Prakash Kumar's Kadavul Irukaan Kumaru, in its third weekend, has raked in less than a lakh to take its total tally to Rs 1.58 crore in Chennai.
