Vijay-starrer "Kaththi" has created history in the US by becoming the highest grossing non-Rajinikanth and non-Kamal Haasan film.

"Kaththi" has surpassed the $5,00,000 mark in the US and has become the first Vijay film to achieve the feat. The actor has joined the likes of Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan to enter the $500K club.

"Kaththi" became the highest grossing Vijay film in the US by surpassing "Thuppakki" lifetime collections in just a few days. It has also overtaken the gross collections of Ajith's "Arrambam", which amounts to $3,80,141.

Now that the film has surpassed the $500K mark, trade experts will be keen to see if it manages to cross $600K and become the highest grossing Tamil film of 2014 by surpassing "Kochadaiiyaan" collections, which stand at around $6,35,000.

"#Kaththi creates history, crosses $500K, Saturday gross $134265 and total at $511252.First non Rajini Kamal starter to cross $400K and $500K!," according to ATMUS Entertainment, the distributors of Tamil films in the US.

"#Kaththi target $635K to get into top 5 all time and top 2014 Tamil grosser in USA to beat Kochadaiiyaan Tamil," they tweeted.

The Vijay starrer is currently holding the sixth spot in the list of top grossing Tamil films in the US. The top five films include "Kochadaiiyaan", "Shivaji", "Dasavatharam", "Vishwaroopam" and "Endhiran." "Kaththi" is expected to continue its good run and break into the top five list.

It has performed well in other overseas markets including the UK, Australia and Malaysia. In India, the film has continued to rock at the box office, despite facing competition from other releases including Shah Rukh Khan's "Happy New Year."

The action thriller is dominating Tamil Nadu and Kerala box office, while its performance has been good in Karnataka. The Telugu version of "Kaththi" is slated to hit the screens on 31 October, but speculations are rife that the film might not make it to theatres on the scheduled date.

Buzz is that several Telugu film producers are interested in remaking the film considering that it is doing grand business at the box office. Apparently, Pawan Kalyan is being considered to reprise Vijay's role in the film. But, there is no official confirmation in this regard.
