Hollywood movie "The Conjuring 2" has struck gold and has got the status of a blockbuster at the Chennai box office. New releases like "'Enakku Innoru Per Irukku" and "Muthina Kathirikai" failed to stop the dream run of the English film in the capital city of Tamil Nadu in its second weekend.

"The Conjuring 2" had 171 shows in Chennai, from which it has earned Rs. 73.46 lakh in its second weekend, reports Behindwoods. The film had collected Rs. 98.27 lakh from 207 shows in its opening weekend. Now the 10-day total collection of the movie stands at Rs. 2.53 crore, which is a lot higher than that of average Tamil films.

GV Prakash Kumar's "Enakku Innoru Per Irukku" is in the second place at the Chennai box office. The Tamil movie has earned Rs. 59.58 lakh from 153 shows in its first weekend. The movie has opened to fantastic reviews. Youngsters have especially liked the movie. Trade experts expect the film to do well in the coming days too.

The other new release, "Muthina Kathirikai," has also got a decent opening despite getting mixed reviews. It has raked in Rs. 28.46 lakh from 117 shows. It has to hold well in the coming days to earn profits.

Bollywood movie "Udta Punjab" has done well in Chennai. In its opening weekend, the Hindi movie has earned Rs. 21.33 lakh from 87 shows. It is followed by Hollywood film "Finding Dory," which has made Rs. 18.62 lakh from 66 shows.

Telugu film "Gentleman" has got an average opening by raking in Rs. 9 lakh from 51 shows. "Velainu Vandhutta Vellaikaaran" is doing fairly well in Chennai as the movie collected Rs. 8.33 lakh in its third weekend. The total business done by the film stands at Rs. 1.77 crore.

Hollywood flick "Central Intelligence" has collected Rs. 8.27 lakh from 48 shows.
