Tamil film "Anjaan" will be Suriya's biggest ever release on 15 August.

The film will be released in nearly 1,400 screens worldwide and is expected to release in more than 450 screens in Tamil Nadu. In Chennai alone, it will be released in around 40 screens.

The Suriya starrer will also be having a big release in key overseas markets like the US and the UK. It's screen count in UK and the US is 58 and 65, respectively. The film's premiere shows will be held in Malaysia on 14 August. Thursday previews will be held in a few other foreign locations like the US and Switzerland.

Advance booking for the film commenced a few days ago and has received overwhelming response from fans.

The film is carrying huge pre-release buzz, thanks to its impressive trailer, songs and the promotional activities. "Anjaan" will be released in more number of screens (including Telugu version titled "Sikindar") than Ajith's "Veeram" and Vijay's "Jilla."

"Anjaan" is expected to beat Dhanush's "Velai Illa Pattathari" ("VIP"), "Veeram" and "Jilla" opening day collections. While "Veeram and "Jilla" earned around ₹5 crore nett (₹7-₹7.5 crore gross) on the first day in Tamil Nadu, "VIP" raked in ₹4.36 crore.

The Surya-Samatha starrer will be enjoying a three-day long weekend owing to the Independence Day holiday. Considering the huge demand for the film, it is likely to end the first weekend (15-17 August) on a grand note.

Meanwhile, there is no big Tamil or Telugu film releasing on Friday. "Anjaan" and "Sikinder" are expected to dominate the screens in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana areas. However, the film might be facing some strong competition from Ajay Devgn's "Singham Returns", which will be released on the same day, in overseas markets.

"Anjaan" will be the first south Indian film to be released in digital screens worldwide. "Digital Revolution in South India... 'Anjaan' will be the 1st high budget film with a Huge Star, which will release only through Digital Screens. No Physical Print is allowed for the film's screening anywhere in the world. Having shot the film with 6K resolution quality, we want only digital," Dhananjayan Govind of UTV Motion Pictures posted on his Twitter page.

The digital projection is expected to help in curbing piracy as there will be special codes in the print, which will enable to find the origin of piracy, reported the Times of India.

Directed by Lingusamy, "Anjaan" is a gangster flick with Suriya appearing in two different characters - Raju Bhai and Krishna. The film also has Samantha, Soori, Vidyut Jamwal, Manoj Bajpai and Brahmanandam among others. The action entertainer is produced by UTV Motion Pictures and Thirrupathi Brothers. Its music is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja and cinematography is handled by Santhosh Sivan.
