When fans gathered to watch Block B member Zico perform at 2016 Nike Unlimited Korea event, little did they expect to witness a barrage of controversial statements from the K-pop star. Nevertheless, that's what they did witness. The rapper took to stage and spoke about his relationship with AOA's Seolhyun, the media publication that released their pictures, and about the Korean society.
Soompi quoted the 23-year-old rapper as saying, "Ah, there's that one memory that I can't forget. The day my car, my house, and my personal life got revealed to everyone." However, Zico's statement didn't end there. The Block B member apologised to fans for not dropping a hint or telling them about his relationship with Seolhyun.
Zico added that his fans bear an important distinction in his life and the rapper indicated that he wouldn't have it any other way.
"First things first, to all the fans who felt disappointed, I'm sorry. But just know that you being number one hasn't changed. There are things that are more important than my personal life," he added.
Earlier, Zico's fans were upset and shocked when news of his relationship with Seolhyun was confirmed by their agencies. Several fans even demanded a refund from the money they contributed for his birthday. But fans' angry response didn't elicit a response from Zico at the time.
News of Zico and Seolhyun's relationship was first reported by Korean media outlet, Dispatch. The agency published several photos of the AOA member running towards Zico's house and claimed that they've been dating for several months.
However, Zico alluded to the photos and said, "You should know, there are too many people who hide behind a mask and write profanities about people's characters, curse people's parents, cause sexual harassment, and can't even open their mouths when people press charges."
