Bringing a cheer among fans, BlackBerry has shared the first official shots of the Android-powered PRIV smartphone that will soon take up the flagship title in its premium lineup.

The renowned corporate smartphone brand, which was the top favorite until Apple and Samsung stole the thunder, is turning the tables in its favour. By offering the first look at the premium slider smartphone, PRIV, BlackBerry has just ignited the flame of love in many hearts around the world.

On Tuesday, BlackBerry released three photos of the security-enhanced Android smartphone, which is expected to debut later this year. According to the company's CEO John Chen, PRIV synonyms with "privacy and privilege" without compromising on the extensive features of Android platform such as a wide range of apps and the most secure experience.

"PRIV users will enjoy choice, innovation, security, privacy AND productivity. In other words, no compromises," BlackBerry said in a blog post sharing the images of PRIV.

Chen is optimistic about PRIV's debut in the highly-competitive market. The upcoming flagship is expected to generate "modest sequential revenue growth" in the quarters to come. With the release of Android-powered device, BlackBerry is not letting go of its BB10 OS, and update BB 10.3.3 is expected to rollout in March 2016.

BlackBerry refused to share any specifics about PRIV, but rumours have it that the handset will sport a 5.4-inch or 5.6-inch Quad HD display, Snapdragon 808 processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage, 18MP primary camera and a 5MP front snapper, ARSTechnica reports.
