Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal refused to bow down to pressure from the Bharatiya Janata Party, which has demanded an apology from him over his allegations against Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in the DDCA row.
The BJP had stepped up their demand for an apology from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader after it was revealed that the report by a three-member panel set up by the Delhi government to look into alleged corruption in the Delhi and District Cricket Association did not name Jaitley.
Kejrwial, however, took to his vanguard on Twitter to say he would not "oblige".
"BJP almost begging me for an apology. Sorry. I won't oblige them. Let Jaitley ji be cross-examined in defamation cases. Let truth prevail (sic)," Kejriwal tweeted on Monday.
The Delhi chief minister claimed the report had not mentioned anyone's name and had also not cleared anyone.
"No clean chit ever given by any Del govt probe. That report confirmed several instances of wrongdoings but did not fix responsibility. It didn't mention ANYONE's name n recommended Enquiry Commission to fix responsibility, which we have done now, (sic)" he said on Twitter.
BJP members protested outside the Delhi CM's residence on Monday, and at least 100 police personnel have been deployed, as per reports.
Arun Jaitley, who had headed the DDCA for 13 years, has filed a civil defamation case against Kejriwal and other AAP functionaries in the Delhi High Court, as well as criminal defamation cases in the Patiala House court over Kejriwal's public allegations.
The latest verbal battle between the AAP and the BJP began after Kejriwal accused the CBI of raiding his office on 15 December in order to access the DDCA report.
"Why is Jaitleyji so scared of DDCA probe? What is his role in DDCA scam? (sic)" Kejriwal had tweeted.
