Thursday's episode of CBS' "The Big Bang Theory", titled "The Platonic Permutation", is a Thanksgiving special that will see Sheldon and Amy going on a date.

They are yet to resume their relationship, but Amy and Sheldon wanted to try being friends and a date to the aquarium proves to be the perfect opportunity. But towards the end of the episode, Amy realises how much she missed Sheldon and proposes that they get back together.

According to a leaked description of the episode, Sheldon refuses to get back together saying he cannot go through yet another heartbreak.

But it looks like they won't be able to stay away from each other for long. Sheldon and Amy will finally consummate their relationship in the episode that will be aired on 17 December.

"After over five years of dating, we felt the time was right for Sheldon and Amy to finally consummate their relationship," showrunner Steve Molaro said in a statement cited by TVLine, "and we're so excited for the audience to see the journey over the next several episodes."

Details available on "The Big Bang Theory" wikia notes that the episode will be titled as "The Opening Night Excitation", and Sheldon and Amy would have reunited by then. Their consummation act will be a birthday gift for Amy, the website noted.

The official synopsis for this Thursday's episode "The Platonic Permutation" reads:

It's Thanksgiving. Sheldon and Amy go on a lunch date to the aquarium as friends. Howard, Bernadette, Raj and Emily help out at a soup kitchen. Leonard and Penny make their first Thanksgiving dinner as a married couple. After accidentally revealing that he read Penny's journal, Leonard wears the lingerie he got her as way of apologizing!
