British luxury car maker Bentley Motors entered the SUV segment with its first vehicle, the Bentayga, early this year. The first batch of the SUV just rolled out from the plant and the company has already started working on the second SUV.
The company announced they are working on a smaller SUV and a new sportscar to increase total sales to about 25,000 units annually.
The second SUV to the flagship Bentayga will feature more compact dimensions. The new SUV is expected to take shape as a concept by 2017 and the launch is expected within the next year. The smaller SUV Bentley will be positioned in the same way Porsche placed the Cayanne and the Macan SUVs. The Bentley small SUV will target younger audience and will feature the signature design of Bentley cars.
In terms of engine, the smaller SUV is expected to receive the V8 turbocharged petrol and diesel engines. A hybrid engine and a range topping Speed version is also expected in which the latter will be using a newly developed 6.0-litre twin-turbo W12 engine.
The new sportscar is expected to be the production version of the EXP 10 Speed 6 concept that the company unveiled at the 85th Geneva Motor Show in March 2015. The Bentley sportscar is expected to make its debut sometime in 2020, after the launch of the small SUV. The models are reportedly yet to get the go-ahead from the Volkswagen group while Bentley CEO, Wolfgang Durheimer said that the model was already in the design stages, reports AutocarUK.
