Veteran actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty reacted to Ranveer Singh's recently released film Dhurandhar 2 being labelled as 'propaganda'. He said his 2025 film The Bengal Files was not allowed to release and added that if his film faced such a situation, then Dhurandhar 2 should also not have been released. He further stated that the 'propaganda' claims are being made only after the film's release.

Mithun Chakraborty On Dhurandhar 2 Propaganda Row: 'Bengal Files Ko Release Hone Nahi Diya, Ranveer Singh Ke Film Ko Bhi Rok Lete...'

Speaking to IANS, Mithun said, "The Bengal Files korelease hone nahi diya, isse badi kya baat karenge? Ab Dhurandhar ko bhi propaganda kehte, toh Dhurandhar ko bhi rok lete na? Dhurandhar release hui, aur ab aap kehte ho ki propaganda hai. Lekin The Bengal Files ka release tak nahi hone diya. Uske against mein jaake, film ko release tak hone nahi diya Bengal mein. Isse badi dukh ki baat kya ho sakti hai?" ("What bigger issue can there be than The Bengal Files not being allowed to release? Now if you call Dhurandhar propaganda too, then why didn't you stop Dhurandhar? Dhurandhar was released, and now you are calling it propaganda. But The Bengal Files wasn't even allowed to release in Bengal. What could be sadder than this?")

Further, he added that The Bengal Files was based on the Noakhali massacre, which is not a recent event but something that happened before Independence, yet the film was not allowed to be released.

Defending Dhurandhar 2, Mithun shared, "Toh dadagiri, jo bolna hai boliye, lekin Dhurandhar ne saare records tod diye. Itne logon ne picture dekhi hogi tab na. Har sampraday ke logon ne dekhi hai, tareef ki hai, aur do-teen baar dekhne ke baad hi picture ka yeh business hota hai." ("So, say whatever you want about aggression, but Dhurandhar has broken all records. So many people must have watched it. People from every community watched it, praised it, and the film's business only happens after people watch it two or three times.")

After its lowest Day 12 collection, Ranveer Singh's recently released film Dhurandhar 2 saw slight growth on Day 13, earning Rs 27.75 crore in India. The film's India gross now stands at Rs 1,077.41 crore, while its worldwide total has reached Rs 1,435.41 crore.
