Surjapur, Jan 06 (ANI): A bear created havoc in a village in Chhattisgarh after it mauled a man. The man was attacked by the bear in the forest area of Surjapur district. The villagers shouted and tried to shoo away the animal but could not save the man. Reportedly, the man was an employee of Chhattisgarh Forest Department. Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (wildlife), Kailash Chandra Bebarta said the bear had attacked many animals before and the villagers were living in fear. The man died on the spot. He was a part of the team that had gone to capture the bear but the team failed in their operation. Forest authorities later shot dead the animal. The victim's body has been sent for post-mortem.
