The Day 4 of Rio Olympics 2016 will feature 12 beach volleyball matches at the Coliseu on Copacabana on Tuesday. Six men's and six women's team fixtures have been lined up for Tuesday. Out of these, four matches will decide group leadership.

In the women's preliminary round from Pool D, the Canadian pair of Jamie Broder and Kristina Valjas will take on the in-form Germans — Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst. Ludwig and Walkenhorst have won the last five of their six meetings with Canada.

In Pool E, the other Canadian pair of Heather Bansley and Sarah Pavan will face Switzerland's Joana Heidrich and Nadine Zumkehr.

Meanwhile, in men's prelims fixture from Pool D, Latvia will lock horns with surprise package Cuba, who caused one of the biggest upsets in beach volleyball in Rio Olympics 2016 by beating Brazil on Sunday. The Cuban pair of Nivaldo Diaz and Sergio Gonzalez defeated the well-known Evandro Goncalves and Pedro Solberg of Brazil 24-22, 21-23, 15-13 in 59 minutes in their match on Sunday at the Copacabana.

Latvians Aleksandrs Samoilovs and Janis Smedins will be aware of this Cuban threat on Tuesday and will have to be at their best to outplay their opponents.

On the other hand, in Pool C, the leadership standings are shared by USA's Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena and Mexico's Lombardo Ontiveros and Juan Virgen. USA had defeated Tunisia while Mexico went past Italy in their last respective fixtures on Sunday.
