Shah Rukh Khan and Kolkata Knight Riders management has landed in trouble for picking Bangladeshi player Mustafizur Rahman in their squad. The BCCI has reportedly asked KKR to release the Bangladeshi pacer from their team ahead of the IPL 2026. This move comes amid the escalating tensions between India and Bangladesh.
KKR and Shah Rukh Khan had received threats from several political and spiritual leaders for choosing the player. However, this might come as a major blow to the KKR management as they had bid hard to secure the player. Mustafizur was picked by KKR after a fierce bidding for Rs 9.20 crore despite his base price being Rs 2 crore. Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals had gotten into the bidding battle with KKR to pick the Bangladeshi player.
BCCI asks to release the pacer
BCCI is ready to offer a replacement to KKR if they ask for it. "The BCCI has asked Kolkata Knight Riders to release Mustafizur Rahman from its squad. They can ask for a replacement if required. Upon request, BCCI will allow a replacement player," BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia told PTI.
BJP leader warns
BJP leader Kaustuv Bagchi had warned Shah Rukh Khan and KKR of dire consequences and threatened that they would not be allowed to enter Kolkata. "If any Bangladeshi cricketer is included in the IPL team and wants to play a match in Kolkata we won't let it do it. We won't even let Shahrukh Khan enter Kolkata," he said.
"Bangladeshi cricketers like Mustafizur Rahman will earn crores of money and other Bangladeshi will supply firearms and our Hindu brothers will be killed with these weapons it cannot be run simultaneously," he further added.
MLA calls SRK "Jihadi pig"
BJP MLA Nand Kishor Gurjar has also slammed Shah Rukh Khan and called him a "jihadi pig". He also urged people not to watch Shah Rukh Khan's films. "Haalat achche nahi hai, dhyaan rakhna. Ek Shah Rukh Khan naam ka raakhshas hai, uski film mat dekhna. Kabhi film mat dekhna Shah Rukh Khan ki film, bata rahe hai aapko. Pakka jihadi suvar hai, uski film mat dekhna; pratigya karna (Things are not good, be careful. There's a monster named Shah Rukh Khan; don't watch his films. Never watch Shah Rukh Khan's films, I am telling you. He's a confirmed Jihadi pig; don't watch his films)."
