Amidst the flaring violence in the largest city in Maryland, a Baltimore woman has been hailed the "mother of the year" after she was seen on live TV chasing down her rioting son and disciplining him.
The Baltimore mother is seen with her mask-clad son, who started rioting with several others after the funeral of Freddie Gray, a 25-year-old black man who died after suffering from a spinal injury in police custody.
Maryland governor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake since Monday has declared a state of emergency, and called in the National Guard to restore order after the local PD seemed to lose control.
In the video, broadcast first on the WMAR local news station, the Baltimore mother is seen confronting her masked son, who is about to throw stones along with the rioting crowd.
She is then seen repeatedly slapping him on head as she asking "What's wrong with you?!" before marching him home as the rioters look on surprised.
At one point just as the young man attempts to walk back, she is seen yelling: "You wanna be out here doing this dumb sh*t? Get the f*ck over here. Get over here now. Did you hear what I said?!"
