For quite some time now, reports have been doing the rounds that Colors' longest running show "Balika Vadhu" will take a generation leap and also introduce a fresh cast. According to latest reports, the makers of the series have finalised popular actress Mahhi Vij to play the role of grown-up Nimboli after the leap. With this, child artiste Gracy Goswami, who currently plays the role of Anandi's daughter Nimboli, will make an exit from the show.

Confirming the news, Mahhi, who was recently seen performing daredevil stunts on "Khatron Ke Khiladi 7," told the Times of India that she hopes to have a long association with the show. "I was getting a lot of offers, but I auditioned for them halfheartedly, as I feared the show wouldn't last more than six months. But ever since I gave a look test for BV, I have been praying every single day for the deal to materialise," Mahhi said.

"For me, it's a fresh show with a fresh cast and approach. I am embarking on a new journey and have taken up a new show. I hope it will be a long inning," the actress added. Besides Mahhi, actor Avinash Sachdeva will also be a part of the show after the leap.

"Balika Vadhu" will take the leap April 25 onwards. There were reports that after the time leap, the show would narrate the story of yet another girl named Anandi and highlight the evils of child marriage.

It has been reported that with fresh cast joining the show, veteran actress Surekha Sikri, who played the role of Dadisa, Toral Rasputra aka Anandi and Rajeshwari Sachdev aka Mangala would leave the show. Confirming the news, Surekha had told Tellychakkar.com she was now looking forward to doing more challenging roles. "Balika has been one phenomenal journey for me. With my character coming to an end, I look forward to some more challenging roles," she said.
