Bajaj Auto launched the first Pulsar model in 2001 which became a successful model for the company. The success of Pulsar prompted the manufacturer to expand the range. The current Pulsar family has Pulsar 135 LS, Pulsar 150, Pulsar 180, Pulsar 220, Pulsar 200 NS, Pulsar AS 150/200 and Pulsar RS 200.

A MotorOctane report says Bajaj Auto is getting ready to add yet another Pulsar which is naked a sports version powered by a150cc engine and named Pulsar 150 NS.

The report indicates the launch will happen in early 2016. The Pulsar family got bigger in 2015 with the launch of RS200 and Pulsar AS 150/200. Bajaj Auto want to give a break before the next Pulsar launch.

The motorcycle is expected to use the new 149.5cc twin-spark, four-valve air-cooled engine debuted with Pulsar 150 AS which makes 16.7bhp power at 9500rpm and a maximum torque of 13Nm at 7500rpm. The numbers are healthy power figures in the 150cc segment. To put it in perspective, the 16.7bhp is second only to the 18.2bhp CBR150R and equal to the Yamaha R15's power figure. This engine is much more advanced than the current engine in the regular Pulsar 150 in terms of smoothness.

The Pulsar 150 NS will be the second naked bike from Bajaj Auto, the first being the Pulsar 200 NS. The Pune-based two-wheeler manufacturer sold 3.30 lakh motorcycles in September 2015 as against 3.47 lakh units in September 2014, a dip of 5%. The new launches are expected to make a significant boost to the sales of Bajaj Auto in the coming months.
