It was earlier reported that Vijay's Bairavaa would be releasing in January 2017 on the occasion of Pongal festival. Now, the release date of the movie has been revealed. Rumours are rife that the Tamil movie will see the light of the day on Thursday, 12 January, two days before Pongal.

After much discussions, the makers have reportedly finalised the date. The latest trend in Kollywood is to release big movies on Thursdays to have a longer weekend. The major part of the business will be collected in the first few days. Hence, this idea has worked out well for the film industry.

Continuing with this trend, the makers of Bairavaa have now decided to release on the said date, say reports. Meanwhile, the shooting of the Vijay-starrer has been completed recently and the post-production works are progressing in full swing. The dubbing and re-recording works are simultaneously happening at a popular studio in Chennai.

Meanwhile, Sun TV has acquired the satellite rights of Bairavaa and they are also in talks with the makers to acquire the audio rights of the upcoming movie. The deal is expected to be complete in the next few days.

On the other hand, the makers are yet to announce the trailer and audio launch dates. It is believed that it will be out in December.

The movie hit the floors in April and the shooting schedules have been wrapped up without any delay. The filming was held in many places, including Chennai and Hyderabad.

Keerthy Suresh plays Vijay's love interest in Bairavaa and Aparna Vinod and Papri Ghosh are the other two female leads in the flick. Jagapathi Babu is returning to Tamil cinema with this flick after Rajinikanth's Lingaa. Once again, he will be seen in a negative role along with Daniel Balaji. Sathish, Mimi Gopi, Harish Uthaman, Sharath Lohitashwa, Sreeman and YG Mahendra are part of the supporting cast.

Santhosh Narayanan has composed the music, M Sukumar has handled the cinematography and Praveen KL is the editor of the film. Bharathan, who had earlier written dialogues for Vijay's Ghilli and also directed him in Azhagiya Tamil Magan, has collaborated with the actor again.
