In order to boost agriculture, the govt. is spending 16 crore on the construction of four new dams in the border area of Lolab in Kupwara District. The dams will provide water for irrigation purposes to at least 10,000 Kanals of paddy fields. Other side sportspersons in Udhampur lack basic sports facilities and they are hoping that things will take a turn for the better. Beyond this the govt. has promised quality education to everyone, including the poor in far-flung areas, under various schemes like Sarva Siksha Abhiyan and Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyan (RMSA), but these promises remain on paper in the state. One such example is the govt. middle school Kalas in Rajouri District.
