SS Rajamouli's "Baahubali", which has broken several records in Chennai, is now getting ready to beat Rajinikanth's "Lingaa" and Vijay's "Kaththi".

Trade tracker Andhra Box Office states the multilingual movie raked in Rs.6.7 crore by the end of its fourth weekend at the Chennai box office (excluding Chengalpet territory). Now, it is in the fourth position in the list of top grossing movies of 2014-2015 in the Capital city of Tamil Nadu after Shankar's "I", Vijay's "Kaththi" and Rajinikanth's "Lingaa".

Last weekend, it beat some of the recent records like Dhanush's "Velaiyilla Pattathari" (Rs.6.66 crore), Raghava Lawrence's "Kanchana 2" (Rs.6.27 crore), Ajith's "Veeram" (Rs.6.14 crore) and "Yennai Arindhaal" (Rs.5.72 crore) and Vijay's "Jilla" (Rs.5.68 crore).

Now, the next target for "Baahubali" is the records of Rajinikanth's "Lingaa", which raked in Rs.6.78 crore, and Ilayathalapathy Vijay's "Kaththi", which grossed Rs.7.83 crore last year at the Chennai box office.

Looking at the current trend, "Baahubali" could easily beat "Lingaa" and "Kaththi" records as the response has continued to remain good. The SS Rajamouli directorial is likely to surpass the business of the Rajinikanth movie by the fifth weekend, but we have to wait and see whether it can beat the record of the Vijay starrer by the coming weekend itself.

The biggest achievement for the film will be beating the mammoth record of Vikram's "I", which made a lifetime business of Rs.9.68 crore. In order to surpass this collection, "Baahubali" should perform exceptionally well for the next 10 days.

Nonetheless, the performance of "Baahubali" at the Chennai box office has to be appreciated as the movie made massive business in the city despite featuring no Tamil actor. Beating Kollywood records in this region by a movie that does not have a Tamil actor is highly commendable, the traders say.

The film stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty and Tamanna Bhatia in the lead roles.
