The wait for "Avengers: Age of Ultron" is almost over. Starting 1 May, Marvel's favourite superheroes will charge at silver-screens worldwide. Couple of weeks ahead of the release, all the major character and cast members have been revealed. 

Heroes from other franchises like the "Iron Man" and "Captain America" will be joining familiar heroes of "Marvel's The Avengers". Some fresh new heroes will also be introduced in the second installment of the Joss Whedon film.

Here is the complete list of major cast and characters that can be expected to pop up on the screen during, "Avengers: Age of Ultron".

Captain America (Chris Evans)
Chris Evans plays the first Avenger Steve Rogers, a World War II veteran, Rogers was a guinea pig for the "Vita-Ray" treatment that monumentally increased his strength, endurance, agility, speed, reflexes, durability and healing powers. His story is told through movies "Captain America: The First Avenger", "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and "Captain America: Civil War", which will be released in May 2016.

Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr)

A self-described genius, billionaire, playboy and philanthropist with electromechanical suits of armour, Tony Star is a benefactor and co-leader of the Avengers. Robert Downy Jr's character brings most wit and sarcasm to the team of superheroes. The story of Iron Man is revealed in the movies "Iron Man", "Iron Man 2" and "Iron Man 3".

Thor (Chris Hemsworth)

The crown prince of Asgard and the protector of Earth, "Thor" let go of his "god complex" to fight with the human superheroes. The story of the worthy holder of the hammer is told in "Thor" and "Thor: The Dark World".

Hulk (Mark Ruffalo)

Bruce Banner, a genius scientist who was exposed to gamma radiation, initially tries to stay away from any stress-inducing situations to stop becoming the Hulk. However, the Black Widow convinces him to join the "Avengers" and now he is a valuable member of the team. Although he was introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the movie "The Incredible Hulk" in 2008, the role was then played by Edward Norton.

Ultron (James Spader)

A Chitauri artificial intelligence filled with a god complex decides to clean up the Earth, by literally cleaning up the earth. A creation of Tony Stark and Bruce Banner for a pilot peace program, Ultron has a quasi-familial relationship with the Avengers.

Black Widow (Scarlett Johannson)

Although Natasha Romanoff, who formerly worked for SHIELD, has popped up in many Marvel movies, her story is yet to be completely revealed. The story of how she became the highly trained spy, Black Widow will be revealed in "Age of Ultron".

Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner)

The master archer who was an agent for SHIELD has already appeared in "Thor" and the first Avengers film. He will also be seen in the 2016 movie "Captain America: Civil War".

War Machine (Don Cheadle)

The character of the US Air Force officer and close friend of Tony Stark was portrayed by Terrence Howard in the 2008 "Iron Man". From the second installation of the Iron Man movie onwards, the role has been taken over by Don Cheadle, who will reprise the role in "Age of Ultron".

Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen)

The twin siblings and newly recruited Avenger, were abandoned by their parents and their initial response to anything new is hostility and looking out for each other. While Qucksilver has superhuman speed, Scarlet Witch has the ability to engage in telepathy. 

The Vision (Paul Bettany)

Bettany, who voiced Tony Stark's AI companion in the "Iron Man" movies has been cast to play Vision, an android created by Ultron in the upcoming Avengers movie.

Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders)

The "How I Met Your Mother" actress will reprise her role as the former high-ranking SHIELD agent Maria Hill in "Age of Ultron". She has played this role in "The Avengers", "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and the TV series "Agents of SHIELD".

Falcon (Anthony Mackie)

Falcon, who was introduced in the 2014 film "Captain America: The Winter Soldier", is a para-rescueman trained by the military in aerial combat using a specially designed wing pack. He is a friend of Steve Rogers and the two soldiers have a mutual respect for each other. The friendship between the duo will be explored a little in the "Age of Ultron".

Peggy Carter (Hayey Atwell)

Peggy Carter, a retired officer with the Strategic Scientific Reserve, co-founder of SHIELD and former love interest of Steve Rogers, will be present in the upcoming movie.

Heimdall (Idris Elba)

Idris Elba who played the all-seeing, all-hearing Asgardian sentry of the Bifröst Bridge Heimdall in both the "Thor" movies, will reprise his role in "Age of Ultron".

Erik Selvig (Stellan Skarsgard)

Selvig who first appeared in "Thor" and then in "The Avengers" and "Thor: The Dark World" is an astrophysicist and a friend of Thor.

Ulysses Klaue (Andy Serkis)

A supervillain of the Marvel Universe, Klaue has often been shown in conflict with the Fantastic Four and the Avengers and is an enemy of the Black Panther and Ka-Zar.

Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson)

The former director of S.H.I.E.L.D. who originally recruited the Avengers and continues to be a mentor and leader for the team, will make a cameo appearance in the film.

Loki (Tom Hiddleston)

Loki, who was the main villain in the first "Avengers" movie will make an appearance in the new one. He has appeared in all "Thor" movies, and the half-brother/archenemy of the God of Thunder will also return for "Thor: Ragnarok"

Dr Cho (Claudia Kim)

Helen Cho is a world-renowned geneticist who helps the Avengers during the war against Ultron.
