"Attack on Titan" has been confirmed to return to Japanese television and online in February 2016. Given that the release is just weeks away, several plot rumours and speculations have surfaced on the Internet that hint at what the viewers might expect from the upcoming season.

Crossmap has mentioned that unlike first season, season 2 will have very few elements from the manga and will be based on a more original story. It has also hinted that some new titans might be introduced in the series, which were never seen in the manga before.

According to the website, this new titan will be ape-like and would talk unlike most of the titans. It also mentioned that he might be the smartest and strongest titan the show's heroes have ever faced.

"Attack on Titan" is one of the most popular anime show in the Japan and is based on the manga series of same name written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama. It has received praises both from the critics and the anime fans and currently holds a rating of 8.9 out of 10 on IMDb based on score given by 54,669 users.

The anime tells the story of Eren Yeager, his foster sister Mikasa Ackerman and their childhood friend Armin Arlert. All of them live in a post-Apocalyptic world dominated by giant humanoid beings known as Titans.

Now, it is upon these three cadets to protect the walled city that is protected by three huge barricades namely Wall Maria, Wall Rose and Wall Sheena – which were destroyed by a 200-foot tall titan.

The reports also state that the second season won't be anywhere near the manga storyline and might get entirely original story in several episodes. Some titans from the previous season are confirmed to return while there will be some of the entirely new ones to whom fans are unfamiliar.

It has also been revealed that the Colossal Titan is Bertolt Hoover while the Armoured Titan in Reiner Braun.

The official air date of second season of "Attack on Titan" has not been confirmed yet. However, there is a significant possibility that it will open at the same time when "Attack on Titan" video game will be released. the game will hit PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 on 18 February.
