Taiwan-based Asus is reportedly planning to launch the camera-centric flagship smartphone Zenfone Zoom India later this month.

The company has sent invites to media outlets for an event in New Delhi on 22 January. The invitation reads: "experience the next level of smartphone imaging", hinting that the device Asus is referring to is the much-awaited Zenfone Zoom, which is due for release for close to a year.

Zenfone Zoom was first unveiled in CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2015 and it was released in Taiwan, Asus' home market, last month. Now, the device is expected to set foot in India within a couple of weeks.

The main talking point of Asus Zenfone Zoom is its camera hardware. It is the thinnest smartphone to boast 3X Optical Zoom feature. Other notable features include OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation),10-element lens that can add 12X digital zoom for finer close-up details. It also features the laser auto-focus technology for superfast focus (less than 0.03 second) and proprietary PixelMaster v2.0 camera application.
