With a significant growth and endless demand for smartphones these days, manufacturers are coming up with new models to cater to the needs of all consumers. The competition in the smartphone industry is judged by the company's efforts to offer the most advanced specs. But in doing so, the smartphones tend to lose out in the battery department. However, there are plenty of options exclusively for those who wish to get a longer battery life without giving up on most specs.

Asus has launched its Zenfone Max smartphone in India with a considerably large battery that will keep you going for long hours. But Asus is not alone in such offering as other brands such as Gionee, Lenovo and others have similar handsets. In this article, we are going to compare the Asus Zenfone Max with Lenovo P1m, both of which are affordable sub-Rs. 10,000 smartphones with marathon battery.

Display

Asus Zenfone Max features a 5.5-inch HD IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection and 178-degree viewing angle. Lenovo P1m also has the same resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels embedded in its display but the screen measures 5 inches and has Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

Camera

Asus wins in this department. The Zenfone Max features a 13MP primary camera with dual-tone LED flash, laser AF, f/2.0 aperture, backlight HDR and host of other useful modes. On the other hand, Lenovo P1m features an 8MP primary shooter with LED flash.

Both phones have the same 5MP snapper on the front side for selfies.

Processor, RAM and storage

Asus Zenfone Max is powered by a 64-bit 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, Adreno 306 GPU and 2GB RAM. Lenovo Vibe P1m is powered by MediaTek MT6735P quad-core processor, which is backed by 2GB RAM. Both phones have 16GB onboard storage with an option to expand further using microSD cards.

Battery

Both phones are big on batteries. Asus Zenfone Max, however, has a bigger unit measuring 5,000mAh compared to Lenovo P1m, which also has a big 4,000mAh battery. The Vibe P1m is expected to offer up to 16 hours of talk time while Zenfone Max is betting for 37.6 hours.

With such huge batteries, the time taken to charge the device to full is often a concern. Lenovo has addressed that problem by integrating Quick Charge tech. In addition, the Vibe P1m features a dedicated manual button for power saving activation that extends battery life by disabling power-drawing functions and features.

Price and availability

Lenovo P1m wins in this comparison factor with an affordable price tag of Rs. 7,999. The handset is available on Flipkart. Asus Zenfone Max is priced slightly higher than the Vibe P1m, but it is still quite reasonable. The Zenfone Max is available on Flipkart and Amazon India for Rs. 9,999.

Verdict

Lenovo and Asus smartphones are cut out to be great phones in terms of battery. There is a difference of Rs. 2,000 between two phones but Asus Zenfone Max offers a bigger battery, much better camera and performance for the extra price. However, if the budget does not suit you to buy the Zenfone Max, Lenovo P1m is a wise choice at its price.
