It is a tough fight in the smartphone space for companies trying to bring great value devices at incredibly low price. Keeping up the competition, Asus is launching new Zenfone 2 smartphone series with an aim to give flagship smartphones run for their money. The latest handsets will be available at competing price while the high-end variant will compete against the likes of OnePlus One, Huawei Honor 6 Plus, Xiaomi Mi4 and others.
In this article, we put Asus Zenfone 2 high-end variant (ZE551ML) against top-selling OnePlus One and Xiaomi Mi4. The side-by-side comparison of specs, features and prices will help buyers make the close call.
All three phones have great displays at Full HD 1,920x1,080 pixel resolution. The Xiaomi Mi4 offers a better pixel density compared to Asus Zenfone 2 and OnePlus One, that's possible with the 5-inch display instead of 5.5-inch. Asus and OnePlus opt for Gorilla Glass 3 protection while Xiaomi goes with Sharp JDI OGS (One Glass Solution) technology to protect Mi4 display.
Xiaomi and OnePlus smartphones sport compatible Adreno 330 GPU for graphics while Asus uses PowerVR G6430 GPU.
Xiaomi and OnePlus both use similar quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processors clocking speeds at 2.5GHz while Asus smartphone misses out on this one with its 2.3GHz Intel Atom processor.
RAM and Storage
There are storage options to suit customers' needs in all phones. Asus Zenfone 2 offers 32GB and 64GB variant backed up by 4GB RAM while OnePlus One and Xiaomi Mi4 come in 16GB and 64GB models with 3GB RAM.
As per camera details, Xiaomi wins out on paper with its 8mp front snapper compared to 5mp shooter in Asus Zenfone 2 and OnePlus One. The rear cameras in all phones are powered by 13mp sensors and flash.
OnePlus has the biggest battery with 3,100mAh capacity, but Asus and Xiaomi come close with 3,000mAh and 3,080mAh batteries, respectively.
Price and Availability
Asus revealed the pricing of all three Zenfone 2 variants in India today. The company's high-end 4GM Ram 32GB storage model (ZE551ML) will sell for ₹19,999 while the 64GB variant (ZE551ML) is priced at ₹22,999. Asus also revealed the pricing of its 2GB RAM, 16GB storage model ZE551ML, which will sell for ₹14,999 and the base model ZenFone 2 ZE550ML is set for ₹12,999.
As for OnePlus One, the pricing is great at ₹21,999 for the 64GB model and ₹18,999 for 16GB but it is only available via invites. Just for today, OnePlus had an open sale via Amazon but there is no information if the handset will once again be available in similar fashion.
Xiaomi Mi4 is abundantly available via Flipkart. The company did not follow its flash sale strategy for the device, making it easy to pick up simply by placing an order. The 64GB Mi4 variant is listed for ₹23,999 and the 16GB model sells for ₹19,999.
