Taiwanese PC and tablet maker Asus on Thursday launched an all-in-one desktop called Transformer AiO P1801 with a detachable display.

The company claims that the new hybrid device is the world's first all-in-one PC capable of transforming itself in to a fully-fledged tablet when it is detached from its desktop body.

One striking feature of Transformer AiO is that when the display is docked to the desktop, it runs on the Windows 8 OS and works as any other computer. When the display is detached from the desktop, it works as a fully functional Android tablet.

Both PC station and display monitor have processors of their own; the PC stations runs on the third-generation Intel Core processor with Nvidia GT730M GPU and 8GB RAM. Additional features include built-in Asus SonicMaster speakers, HDMI port, USB v3.0 and dual-band Wi-Fi for wireless networking.

The detachable monitor sports an 18.4-inch LED-backlit display with 1080p full HD resolution and 178-degreee wide viewing angles. With the help of Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor, the detached display will transform into a big tablet device. The Transformer AiO can be easily switched between Windows 8 OS and Android 4.1 OS with just a press of a button.

The Asus Transformer AiO P1801 will be initially launched in US markets for $1299 (around ₹70,700). There is no word on when Asus' flagship all-in-one PC would be released in India.
