Asus launches new camera-centric Zenfone Selfie variant with shiny shell in India; price, specifications

Taiwanese consumer electronics major, Asus launched a new Zenfone Selfie model in India on Wednesday.

The newly announced Zenfone Selfie (ZD551KL) model is a version of the original Selfie series, which was launched in August 2015. The key difference between the two is that the former flaunts polygonal design with glossy-glass like segments. It is said to feature around 500 tessellated triangles, giving crystal-like-effect on the cover. The latter features plain coloured smooth surface. Rest of the internal hardware remains same.

The new Zenfone Selfie perfectly encapsulates the creativity of the ASUS design team with the stunning diamond cut back fashioned to deliver a stylish and luxury experience for the consumers.

"Apart from the design, the smartphone also offers great performance levels with its 3GB RAM and Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 to match the users' performance needs," Peter Chang, region head – South Asia and country manager, ASUS India said in a statement.

The highlight of Zenfone Selfie is its front-camera. It boasts a 13mp camera with f/2.2, 24mm wide angle, 5-prism Largan lens, Toshiba 1/3.2-inch sensor, Dual LED real-tone flash, HDR and low-light selfie feature.

And on the back, Asus has incorporated an equally impressive 13mp camera with Laser auto-focus feature.

The new Asus Zenfone Selfie is available on Amazon India for Rs. 12,999 and it is said to hit brick-and-mortar stores in September.

Competition: 

The new Asus Zenfone Selfie will be up against the popular Xiaomi Remdi Note 3, LeEco 2, Lenovo K5 Note, Yu Yunicorn and Moto G4 Plus series, among others.
