A woman was killed and four others were injured in a blast in Assam's Karbi Anglong district on Tuesday, a report said.

The explosion came as Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) poll campaign in the state on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Tuni Begum, reported Hindustan Times. The injured were hospitalised.

The blast was caused by a hand grenade, according to HT sources. However, other details are unclear.

Modi on Tuesday slammed the Congress, saying the ruling party in the state, which couldn't do anything in the past 15 years, expected him to do everything within 15 months. During the pre-election rally in Kokrajhar, he had assured the people of fast-tracking development in Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) areas.

The BJP has allied with the Bodoland People's Front (BPF) to fight the Congress in the upcoming Assembly elections in the state. Modi has also promised grant of tribal status to Bodos and people of Karbi community.
