There were a few hits and misses for India on Day 1 of Asian Games 2018, the 18th edition of the continental multi-sport event.

Bajrang Punia emerged as the biggest star as he won the men's 65kg freestyle wrestling gold while Apurvi Chandela and Ravi Kumar won a bronze medal in the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team event.

Swimmers impressed as well with Sajan Prakash and Srihari Nataraj finished fifth and seventh in 200m butterfly and 100m backstroke, respectively. Kabaddi men and women's teams got off to a good start while Sjoerd Marijne's hockey women thrashed hosts Indonesia 8-0.

However, the biggest upset of the day came when wrestling great Sushil Kumar bowed out without even winning a bout.

India have quite a few big names in action on Day 2 as well.

Star-studded women's badminton team face a tough test against heavyweights Japan in a quarter-final tie.

Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik will lead the wrestling contingent as five more medals are up for grabs.

Tennis men's doubles favoutites Rohan Bopanna/Divij Sharan along with singles stars will also be opening their campaigns tomorrow.
