South actress Meera Jasmine married software professional Anil John Titus in a church in Trivandrum on Wednesday.

The national award winning actress had registered her marriage with Anil at her residence in Ilamkulam, Chilavannur on 9 February. But the official wedding ceremony took place on 12 February under police protection. Bride-groom Anil had filed a petition to the court seeking police protection for the marriage as a former friend of his had threatened to prevent the marriage.

According to a petition filed by Anil, he had tied the knot with Bangalore-based Navya Natarajan at a temple in Tirupati. However, he pointed out that the Bangalore court had dismissed a divorce petition filed by the woman saying that their marriage was void. The family court declared it as void as the marriage happened between a Hindu woman and a Christian man in a temple, reported The Times of India.

Anil had alleged that the woman and her father had threatened him that his marriage with Meera will not be allowed to happen, according to The Hindu

On hearing the petition, Division Bench of the Kerala High Court had ordered the police to be present at Anil's marriage with Meera. Following the court's directive, cops provided tight security to the wedding ceremony, which took place at the Mateer Memorial Church, Palayam.

The event was attended by about 2,000 guests and was a star-studded affair with the presence of several Malayalam film celebrities including Kavya Madhavan, Dileep, Suresh Gopi, Blessy, Rajaputra Renjith and Mallika Sukumaran among others, reported TOI. Meera looked gorgeous in a full-sleeved lace gown, while the bride-groom Anil looked dapper in a black tuxedo. Meera will reportedly continue to act even after marriage, which will be good news for her fans. The talented actress made a comeback of sorts in the Tamil film industry with "Inga Enna Solludhu", co-starring with VTV Ganesh and Santhanam. She will be next seen in a few Malayalam and Tamil films.
