HTC One Name

It has been reported that at the launch of HTC One, the Taiwanese firm mentioned that the flagship device's name was important and will remain as the name assigned to future flagship models as well. This indicates that the proposed HTC M8 handset could be renamed as HTC One 2 or HTC One (2014).

HTC M8 Design

The handset is said to follow the same lines of HTC One with a high-quality aluminium touch. In a recent image leak of HTC M8's back panel, it has been found that the camera and flash will be placed just similar to the HTC One. However, another circular slot on the top is being widely speculated as the provision for a fingerprint sensor.

According to the rumours and the leaks, it has been pointed out that the handset will feature a 5in Full HD display with 440ppi pixel density and a Snapdragon 800 processor.

The Antutu Benchmark scores for HTC M8 also surfaced online confirming the device's specifications and additionally stating the handset to feature a 2GB RAM.

-2GB RAM and 16GB ROM

The device is speculated to come in 16GB/32GB/64GB in-built memory storage options, along with a MicroSD card support. A fingerprint sensor along with the HTC Sense 6.0 UI and 4000mAh battery is also expected.

HTC M8 Release Date

From the past time table of HTC, it has been understood that all the handset launch announcements by the firm has taken place around the month of February, which is also said to coincide with the Mobile World Congress event.

HTC One was launched on 19 February 2013, which was one week before the MWC 2013 event. The same is expected for the HTC M8 device in 2014.

The announcement is expected to fall around 24 February 2014, as it's the same date when the MWC event is scheduled to begin. However, if the device faced some production-related issues like the HTC One, it would reach the markets only by March or early April, reports Pocket Lint.

The time frame has been confirmed by the Hon. Mr Justice Arnold, the judge presiding the patent case between HTC and Nokia. "HTC is close to launching the successor flagship model to the HTC One. HTC has not revealed the launch date. Nokia has adduced evidence which suggests that the launch date is in the first quarter of 2014 and possibly as early as February 2014. HTC has not contradicted this," he stated.
