Smartphone Case Maker Leaks Google Nexus 5 Snapshot Ahead of Launch
Earlier in the week, we saw the battery and price details of the rumoured Nexus 5 smartphone variants. Now, a popular smartphone case maker Spigen SGP has leaked the picture of the upcoming Nexus 4 successor.Google+/Spigen SGP

The much-anticipated Google Nexus 5 is reportedly set for a launch on 31 October, according to a new report.

Technology blog Mobile Syrup citing a source claimed that the rumoured Nexus 5 would go sale at Google Play online store on 31 October. A week later (either on 7 or 8 November) Canadian carriers would begin retailing the new phone at local stores.

Even though the news has left Nexus 5 enthusiasts excited, developers Google and LG are still yet to respond to the report.

The rumoured launch date is just few days away, but there is no news of the company sending out invites for an event. Many believe that Google may host a low-profile event by going online to announce its new generation Nexus 5.

In 2012, Google hosted an event in New York City to launch the Nexus devices on 29 October, but had to cancel the event at the last minute due to Hurricane Sandy. The company then went ahead to announce new devices (Nexus 4, Nexus 10 and cellular Nexus 7 variant) via a press release on Google Blog.

Apart from the unveiling of Nexus 5 and v4.4 Kit Kat OS, Google is also speculated to announce the Nexus 10 successor and Nexus 4 LTE variant.

The upcoming smartphone Nexus 5 will reportedly come with a 5.0-inch (4.95 inch, to be precise) full HD (1920x1080p) display with pixel density of 442 ppi (pixels per inch) and is expected to be the first Android smartphone in the industry to run on v4.4 Kit Kat OS.

Inside, it is said to pack a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core CPU, Adreno 330 graphics engine, 2GB RAM. Like its predecessor, Nexus 5 may come in 16GB and 32GB models.

It is expected to house a 1.2-megapixel camera on the front and an advanced 8.0-megapixel main camera with MEMS (MicroElectroMechanical System) technology which enables users to take good crisp snapshots under low-light conditions.

Last week, search engine giant accidently revealed that the Nexus 5 (16GB) would cost $349 (roughly around ₹21,451) on the Google Play store. As of now, there is no official word on 32GB model price, but rumour has it the bigger variant is certain to cost more than $400.
