Samsung Galaxy S4 has set a new benchmark for the company, breaking the records of its predecessors - Galaxy S3, Galaxy S2 and Galaxy S - in terms of sales. The Korean electronic giant announced on Thursday that it has sold 10 million units of the smartphone in less than a month.

Samsung Galaxy S4 was released worldwide on 27 April. Its predecessor Galaxy S3 took 50 days to reach the 10 million mark, while Galaxy S2 took five months, and Galaxy S seven months.

At Samsung we'll continue to pursue innovation inspired by and for people," said JK Shin, CEO and President of the IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics.

Samsung GALAXY S4 is available in more than 110 countries and is planning to roll out in 155 countries in cooperation with 327 partners. It is available for ₹40,300.

Samsung is planning to introduce more colour variants to meet consumer tastes and preferences. In addition to the currently available White Mist and Black Forest, new colour iterations will be added this summer, including Blue Arctic and Red Aurora, followed by Purple Mirage and Brown Autumn.

Samsung Galaxy S4 sports a 5.0-inch Full HD Super AMOLED screen with 1920x1080p display resolution and pixel density close to 441 ppi (pixels per inch). Other specifications include Android v4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS, Exynos 5410 Octa-core chipset with two quad-core processor - a 1.6GHz quad-core processor and a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor.

The device features a 13.0-megapixel primary camera and a 2.0-megapixel pixel front-facing camera. Among its new features are Smart Scroll, Smart Pause, Samsung WatchON and S Voice Drive. It comes in three storage options - 16GB, 32GB and 64GB.
