The Indian arm of the South Korean consumer giant LG has officially released its Google Nexus 4 (16GB) for ₹25,999, just a day after Indian e-retailer Flipkart began taking pre-orders for the smartphone.
LG Electronics India, Managing Director, Soon Kwon said, "LG Electronics is pleased to partner Google on the release of the Nexus 4 in India. The Google Nexus 4 smartphone sports 4.7-inch WXGA IPS HD 1280x768p display resolution, and runs on the latest pure stock Android Mobile OS v4.2.2 Jelly Bean powered by a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor with 2GB RAM, 16GB internal memory (no microSD card slot).
LG-Google Nexus 4 was first released in US, Europe and in other select markets across the world in November, 2012. And now after close to six months it is making the India debut.
A few months ago, speculations were rife that the delay of Nexus 4 launch in India was reportedly due to a disagreement between the co-developers Google and LG over the pricing model for the Indian market.
In the US, Nexus 4 is sold for $299 (around ₹16,250) for 8GB and $349 (around ₹19,000) for the 16GB model. Now, it remains to be seen, if Nexus 4 with an inflated price tag of ₹25,999, will attract thrift Indian buyers.
As per recent reports, only the 16GB Nexus 4 model will be made available in the market while the 8GB variant may not set its foot in India.
Buyers can place pre-orders for Google Nexus 4 (16GB) at Flipkart for ₹25,990 and at Spice owned Saholic for ₹30,000, but sales are yet to begin. Google has also not yet begun sales at its officilal online store Google Play. The company is currently selling Nexus 7 tablet PC in India.
