Arsenal are closing in on their long-time-summer-target Karim Benzema. According to reports, Real Madrid have accepted a bid of £48.2 million for the French striker.

Daily Star reported that the Gunners are likely to unveil Benzema on next Tuesday. If Benzema completes his move to the Emirates, then he will be handed over the no. 9 jersey.

Although Gunners boss Arsene Wenger have not opened up about any new target, speculations are soaring ahead of the Monday's big encounter against Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium.

An Italian journalist claimed that the Spanish giants have agreed on the huge fee for the coveted French striker.

Benzema's wage is likely to be around £160k per week, which would make him Arsenal's highest earner. He will also get the chance of reuniting with Mesut Ozil who once played alongside the former at Santiago Bernabeu.

Arsenal suffered a loss against West Ham in the opening fixture of the English Premier League 2015-2016 season. They did come back strongly against Crystal Palace in their second game but their defense looked vulnerable. Olivier Giroud has been starting for the Gunners upfront. Danny Welbeck is yet to mark his return. Theo Walcott has not been used as he should have been. Benzema would give a major boost to their attacking front and their all-in-all approach to their upcoming fixtures in the news season of the Premier League.
