"Arrow" is coming back on The CW with new twists and turns in Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) and Felicity Smoak's (Emily Bett Rickards) relationship on Wednesday, 7 October.

The creative team of season 4 will take viewers through a new journey with new cast members joining the show.

During the recently concluded Television Critics Association summer press tour of The CW held at Beverly Hills, executive producer Wendy Mericle teased a bumpy ride for the popular onscreen power couple.

"It's going to be challenging. It's going to be fun to see them maintain this relationship through the ups and downs of a lot of big challenges coming there way. hang in there, it's gonna be a bumpy ride. We'll see whether they weather the storm, but it's going to be fun its going to be exciting," she told HollywoodLife.com.

The creator even stated that Oliver and Felicity will have their own share of problems in life. "It just felt like the way it needed to go, they were ready for it. That doesn't mean, obviously, [that] they'll always be together. In these things, nothing goes smoothly in Shakespeare or on our show in the course of love, and they're going to have their fare share of challenges, but it felt like the right time," she said.

One of the main challenges for the onscreen power couple might be coming from Felicity's mother Donna Smoak (Charlotte Ross). The actress has confirmed her casting for season 4, but the creators are yet to reveal the secret mission behind her character's return, according to TV Line.

Meanwhile, fans of the supernatural series can expect a character shift for the protagonist in the upcoming sequel of "Arrow".

"We sort of look at season four, not as a reboot, but sort of as a big shift for Oliver Queen's character. In this season, he's in a completely different place. He's happy, and in love!" revealed Mericle.

The CW will air the premiere episode of "Arrow" season 4 on Wednesday, 7 October, at 8pm.
