'Arrow' Season 3 Spoilers: Brandon Routh to Play The Atom, Oliver to Have 2 New Mentors

The former "Man of Steel" star Brandon Routh is going to play a superhero in "Arrow" Season 3. Routh is reported to play Ray Palmer, aka DC superhero The Atom, as per the reports.

Palmer is an exceptional scientist and inventor who would play a vital role in the lives of Oliver and Felicity, reported TV Line. Apparently, Routh's character would be Felicity's love interest. Palmer would be the new owner of Queen Consolidated and his plans for the Applied Science Division would be kept under veil.

Ray/ Atom has the power to change the size of his body as well as of various other objects. The superhero has appeared in many DC comics and numerous animated series, including Cartoon Network's "Young Justice."

Meanwhile, "Arrow" star Stephen Amell recently gave some spoilers about the season 3 suggesting that his character Oliver would like to get his humanity back.

"Oliver lost a lot of his humanity in those five years [away from Starling City], so as we see that continue to happen it in the flashbacks, we will see how much of his humanity he wants to get back in the present", Amell told TV Line.

He even suggested in his other interview how Oliver and Felicity's romance would shape up post-season 2's finale.

"Think back to what Oliver said in the sixth episode, which is, 'because of what we do, I can't be with someone I could really care about,' and I think that remains true. So I don't necessarily think that it was a total bait-and-switch," he said to Entertainment Weekly.

Oliver could also get hurt deeply if he looses his sister Thea to his arch nemesis Malcolm Merlyn in the upcoming season, as per the reports.

"Based on the fact that Oliver has lost both his mother and father, Thea's going to be incredibly important to him, so if she's not what he expects, that's going to be really difficult for him to deal with," Amell further said.

Moreover, there would be two additional characters who would be playing as Oliver's mentors. The names of the characters are Katana and Maseo Yamashiro, as per the reports.

Katana would be played by "Sin City" star Devon Aoki. She would appear in Oliver's past. While, Yamashiro would be played by Karl Yune.

Another potential spoiler of season 3 is its villain. A villain named Seth is understood to be causing trouble for the crime fighters.

The filming of season 3 is speculated to happen on 9 July and the new season could premiere in October.
